90 out of 1078 U.S. unicorn founders were born in India

Research shows that 44 percent of Unicorn founders in the US were not born in the country.

The year 2021 was dubbed the 'Year of Unicorns' because many Indian Unicorn startups were created through the year and several of the tech startups raised impressive amounts when they went finally public. Unicorn startups are private companies that are valued at more than a billion US dollars. But Indians are founding Unicorns not just in India, but also in the US.

A recent study shows that 90 of the 1078 founders from 500 US unicorns were born in India, indicating that Indian-Americans have conspicuous position in the startup sector of the US economy.
