After days of high drama Imran Khan finally shown the door

The Biden administration is not exactly thrilled with Islamabad which is one reason why the American President was yet to place a call to Khan more than a year after coming to the Oval Office.

Imran Khan should have known better — that politics is not like cricket or perhaps even vice versa. But holding on to his own maxim that he is out there till the last ball, Khan found out that his staying power depended neither on the bat nor on the last ball but something called political acumen that he clearly did not have. And political smarts come not from wizardry or sorcery but in the uncanny ability to keep allies in good humor and opponents at bay through clever maneuvers. As the adage goes “Keep Your Friends Close But Your Enemies Closer”!

Unfortunately for the former Prime Minister and fortunately for the opposition Khan was felled by his own googly — of sheepishly invoking a “foreign hand” in a conspiracy of sorts that even his chief benefactor, the armed forces, scornfully laughed at signaling that it was time to go. And living up to democratic credentials, the Supreme Court of Pakistan delivered the final blow by ruling on the unconstitutionality of the decision of the Speaker to dissolve the National Assembly without taking the vote of confidence.
