After disappointing loss, India secures first win in Women’s Hockey World Cup

The Indians will now face the Japanese team on July 13, 2022 at the Estadi Olímpic de Terrassa stadium in Catalonia, Spain.

A day after missing out a spot in the qualifiers of the ongoing FIH Women’s World Cup Spain and Netherlands 2022, Team India took to the field against Canada on Monday, July 11, 2022 and clinched their first -ever win in the tournament.

While both teams tied 1-1 at the end of the match, India pulled a stunning 3-2 win in the shootouts to proceed to the 9-12th placings of the tournament. The goalkeeper and captain Savita Punia lead the team to victory by making six saves during the match.
