Ancient stolen Hanuman idol to be returned to India
The ancient idol belonging to the Vijayanagar period of 14th -15th century was discovered recently with a private buyer in Australia.
A Lord Hanuman Idol, stolen from Tamilnadu in 2012 and smuggled abroad will be returned to India, Ministry of Culture of India announced in a tweet on Wednesday.
India’s Ministry of Culture tweeted “500-year-old Lord Hanuman bronze idol stolen from Tamil Nadu temple, to be repatriated back to India. The stolen idol retrieved by US Homeland Security was handed over to @HCICanberra by US CDA.”
