Australia to step up visa processing of skilled workers
As of 2020, almost 2.8 percent of the Australian population is of Indian ethnicity, with over 592,000 people (2.4 percent) having been born in India.
The Australian immigration minister has ordered the Department of Home Affairs to expedite visa applications in order to solve a shortage of skilled employees.
The backlog of visa applications is the main concern, according to Andrew Giles who is the new government's minister of immigration, citizenship, migrant services, and multicultural affairs.
