On Thursday, Bangladesh commemorated 50 years of victory over Pakistan in a bloody war for independence with a military parade attended by the Indian president as a guest of honor.

The war began on March 26 and lasted nine months before victory was declared in December, with India's Prime Minister Indira Gandhi assisting.
