In the wake of the outbreak of the novel Omicron version of the Coronavirus, India withdrew Bangladesh from a list of "at-risk" nations where travelers would need to take extra precautions upon arriving.
Bangladesh was added to the list as part of increased precautions to prevent the spread of the new variant, but it was removed after Dhaka raised the issue with New Delhi, as per sources familiar with the situation. Several steps have been put in place by the Indian government to prevent and regulate the spread of the Omicron variant, which was first identified in South Africa.
