Beijing Winter Olympics: US backs India, condemns Chinese intimidation
Senator Jim Risch, a ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee called the Chinese act “shameful” and pledged US support to India on the matter.
The Chinese government’s decision to honour a regiment commander, who had led the 2020 attack against India, at the Winter Olympics, was met with a diplomatic boycott of the games from the Indian side.
When a US State Department official, Ned Price was questioned to comment on the situation at a press briefing he said, “When it comes to the broader issue of India-China border situation, we continue to support direct dialogue and a peaceful resolution of the border disputes.”
