A Bengali folk song recently went viral on social media with people from all over the world including places such as South Korea and Tanzania participating in the ‘Kacha Badam’ (or unroasted peanuts) Dance challenge. Especially popular on Instagram Reels, several celebrities and influencers have been seen performing to the catchy beat of the remixed song.

However, the original song has very humble origins with its composer — a peanut seller from West Bengal who wrote the jingle song based on a popular Baul folk tune to attract customers on the streets to purchase his wares.
