BJP wins big, claims majority in 4 of 5 State Assemblies
The BJP witnessed a landslide victory in the state claiming 250 of the total 403 seats. The party’s return to power in the state will be the first time a ruling party has managed to do so since 1985.


The State Assembly election results for five states namely – Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Manipur, and Uttrakhand were declared on Thursday, March 10, 2022. The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) emerged victorious in all states except Punjab that was claimed by the Aam Aadmi Party.

The BJP witnessed a landslide victory in the state claiming 250 of the total 403 seats. The party’s return to power in the state will be the first time a ruling party has managed to do so since 1985.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s record-breaking win in Gorakhpur will make him the first UP CM to serve two consecutive terms in the state. He won the seat with a majority of over 1 Lakh votes.
Akhilesh Yadav, Chief of Samajwadi Party won his Karhal seat with 61,000 votes majority. His party has managed to claim more seats in this year’s election than the 2017 election thereby reducing BJP’s winning majority in the state.
