Cheetahs that are extinct for the past 70 years are expected to return to India's jungles in the first half of this year (2022).

Unveiling the action plan today, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to protecting and conserving big cats, including cheetahs, and that 50 of the species will be introduced in various parks across the country over the next five years."
