In response to the ongoing negotiations on the Senate passage of the Build Back Better Act (H.R. 5376), Indian American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL-08) has issued a statement urging the senators to include provisions to address the massive green card backlog. The Act was passed by the House of Representatives one week ago.

The version of the Build Back Better Act passed by the House on Nov. 19 modifies the Immigration and Nationality Act registry cut off date to allow individuals who entered the United States before Jan. 1, 2010, to apply for green cards, while also recapturing family-sponsored and employment-based green cards that had been unused since 1992.
