COVID-19 : New cases spurge in Kerala by more than 50 percent in the week after the Onam celebration

Prior to this week, the nation's overall number of Covid cases had been progressively falling since the final week of July.

In Kerala, new cases of Covid-19 increased by more than 50 percent in the week after the Onam festival, interrupting a seven-week trend of diminishing instances and causing a slight increase in the country's case count in the week ending Sunday.

From 9,805 cases in the preceding seven days, Kerala reported 14,865 new cases of the virus throughout the week. 39 percent of all cases discovered in the nation this week were from Kerala.
