Demand for international tickets on the rise, say tour operators

International bookings have climbed by 80 percent after the Indian government announced the start of scheduled international flight operations on March 27 compared to January this year, according to a Cleartrip representative.

Demand for international travel has showed a "definite acceleration" a week following the return of scheduled overseas commercial aviation operations from India, encouraging travel service providers.

Short-haul destinations are currently seeing the most growth, according to Indiver Rastogi, president and group head for global business travel at Thomas Cook (India) and SOTC Travel Ltd. (Sita Online Tourism Cooperation).
