Despite same-sex marriage uncertainty, Indian gay couple ties the knot

A gay couple married in a lavish ceremony in Hyderabad, formalising their nearly decade-long relationship. The ceremony was officiated by a trans woman.


In a rare instance, two Indian men recently married in a grand ceremony in Hyderabad. Supriyo Chakraborty and Abhay Dang issued a strong statement stating that their happiness was the most important factor, prompting them to proceed with their wedding without seeking permission from anyone. A couple's marriage was not hampered by legal complications.

The couple has been together for nearly 10 years. The couple took the next step in their relationship by partaking in traditional rituals. On Dec. 17 and 18, the couple married in a two-day ceremony at a Hyderabad resort.
