Elon Musk on Friday, replied to a tweet by a user asking about Tesla’s manufacturing plans for India. Musk replied by saying that the company will not manufacture in India until it is permitted to sell and service its cars in the country.

Tesla's arrival in India has been on hold since 2019, due to a 60 percent import duty on electric vehicles priced under US$ 40,000 in India. On electric vehicles costing more than US$ 40,000, the import tariff is 100 percent.
