Emirates IDs will replace the UAE residency visa page for expats from April 11 onward as the government phases out passport stickers. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICA) has issued a circular announcing that residency stickers on passports will no longer be issued for expatriates and only Emirates ID cards will act as a proof for valid UAE residency.

Emirates ID will consist of all relevant residency-related information and airlines will be able to verify the status of residency via Emirates ID and passport number when traveling.
