For the first time in history, expatriates can now run for election to the board of directors of the Saudi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Saudi Arabian Federation has announced. This provision is included in the executive regulations of the Chamber of Commerce Act.

The cabinet approved a new trade law in December last year that would allow foreign investors to be members of the chamber's board of directors. Foreign investors will be allowed to join the board of directors only twice in a row.
