Farm laws to be repealed, Modi announces

The Prime Minister requests farmers to call off their protests, meanwhile Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait has said that the protesting farmers will return to their homes only after the Parliament duly passes the decision.

In what is seen as a stunning announcement the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation today at 9 a.m. IST has said that the Centre will repeal the three farm laws that have been controversial next month.

"We have decided to repeal all three farm laws. We will start the constitutional process to repeal all the three laws in the parliament session that starts at the end of this month," Modi said during the address.
