Former Indian footballer Surajit Sengupta passes away

Sengupta was an outstanding right-winger and one of the very few elite ballplayers in Indian football. He has played for both East Bengal and Mohun Bagan and represented India at the 1974 and 1978 Asian Games.

On Thursday, Former Indian footballer Surajit Sengupta passed away at 70 after battling with COVID for 24 days.

He was admitted to the Peerless Hospital in Kolkata and was treated by a specially dedicated team of doctors over the last three weeks. His condition gradually became critical and over the last 10 days, when he was put on life support.
