Mumbai-based conglomerate Aditya Birla Group’s metal arm, Hindalco Industries Limited has partnered with a leading Israel-based pioneer in metal-air battery technology, Phinergy to manufacture aluminum plates for sustainable aluminum-Air batteries used in electric vehicles (EVs).
In Phinergy’s batteries energy is produced when aluminum reacts with air to produce aluminum hydroxide. However, as aluminum can be recovered from aluminum hydroxide and recycled, the use of these batteries eliminates the need for expensive nationwide charging networks.
