Illinois declares November 4 as Diwali Day

The resolution adopted by the Senate mentioned that the state 'recognizes the cultural significance of Diwali and the religious diversity in Illinois, the U.S. and the world.

State Sen. Ram Villivalam has passed a resolution in the Illinois Senate declaring Nov. 4, 2021 as Diwali Day in the state.

The five-day festival Diwali has gained its name from the Sanskrit word Deepavali meaning rows of lighted lamps.
