Illinois to create Indian American Advisory Council

Illinois is a state with a significant Indian American population.

The governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker recently signed a bill to create an Indian American Advisory Council in the state that will represent the voice of the Indian American community in Illinois.

The 21 member council will be responsible for advising the Governor and the General Assembly on policy issues directly impacting the Indian American community in Illinois. Effective from Jan.1, 2023, the council will deliver reports to the General Assembly twice a year.
