The unfurling of the tricolor at Times Square is a part of the day- long celebrations organized by FIA Aug. 15

Independence Day: Federation of Indian Association hoisted the biggest tricolor flag at Times Square, New York

In commemoration of the 75th Independence Day, the biggest tricolor flag was hoisted by India’s Consul General in New York, Randhir Jaiswal at the Times Square. The event was hosted by Federation of Indian Association, New York.

Special performance was given by the band Dhol Tasha Pathak of Maharashtra Mandal who had come all the way from Michigan to participate in the celebration.

Deputy Consul General Shatrughna Sinha, FIA Chairman Ankur Vaidya, FIA veteran and prominent Indian-American physician Sudhir Parikh, and other senior officials from the organization and other community groups were joined by a large number of people from the Indian diaspora for the commemoration. The tricolor flag was 6 feet by 10 feet and the height of the pole was 25 feet.
