India has begun a path to eliminate plastic pollution by implementing sound and effective EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) on plastic packaging

India along with 175 countries' environment ministers and other officials backed a landmark resolution to eradicate plastic waste and create a legally enforceable international pact by 2024. The decision was made at the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) held in Nairobi.

The historic resolution covers all aspects of plastic's life cycle, including production, design, and disposal. "The United Nations Environment Assembly, against the backdrop of geopolitical turmoil, showcases multilateral cooperation at its finest," said Espen Barth Eide, Assembly President and Norwegian Minister of Climate and Environment.
