Six agreements pertaining to several key sectors were signed between India and Maldives on August 2 2022, during an official visit by Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the President of Maldives, boosting bilateral ties between the two nations.

Geographical proximity and common historical and cultural ties and values form the basis of the India- Maldives relationship. The official visit of Solih at the Prime Minister’s invitation serves to highlight the significance of this bilateral relationship. The President and his delegation attended an official lunch hosted by Prime Minister Modi. He also had restricted and delegation-level talks with Prime Minister.
