India and Pakistan issue diplomatic visas after a gap of two years

The tussle concerning visas has been occurring for quite a while as Pakistan's reluctance to issue visas to Indian diplomats led to the withdrawal of its high-ranking officials from the embassy in Islamabad.

After a long gap of 28 months, India and Pakistan have agreed to issue diplomatic visas.

After a gap of around 2 years, India and Pakistan have issued diplomatic visas. Thus, devising a step toward normalizing relations as both the countries have witnessed immense conflict be it with the Pulwama attack of 2019 or the Pathankot attack of 2016 which has given birth to a sour relation.

Pakistan has not issued any visas for the past 28 months to Indian diplomats except on a few occasions. However, over the past few weeks, a large number of assignment visas have been issued to each other's diplomatic staff. The application which was submitted by March 15, 2021, has been delivered.
