The US and India discussed a range of regional issues, including those in South Asia, East and Southeast Asia, and the Western Indian Ocean. Defense officials also explored the potential to expand multilateral collaboration between the US, India, and other like-minded partners during their September meeting.

The conference of joint secretaries, also known as an intersectional dialogue in India and an intersectional discussion in the United States, takes stock of current developments and collaboration between the annual high-level 2+2 ministerial meetings.
