India, Canada work together to set up direct flight from Amritsar to Canada
In the absence of a direct flight route from Amritsar to Canada, passengers must first travel to New Delhi, to board a their Canada bound flight.

On Wednesday, Indian Civil Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, met Canadian Transport Minister Omar Alghabra to discuss areas of bilateral cooperation in Ottawa, Canada.
The two ministers agreed on revising their bilateral air agreement to include more direct flights from India to Canada, especially flights from the Amritsar, a city in Punjab, which is home to majority of the Indian diaspora in Canada.
