India clarifies denial of foreign funds to UK Charity

As per the Ministry of Home Affairs, Oxfam and 6,000 other non-profit organisations were denied the FCRA licences on numerous legal grounds.

Oxfam India is one of the 21 branches of the British Charity Oxfam.

The Indian government has claimed to have discussed with the UK regarding Oxfam’s request for license renewal for using foreign funds in the country.

The UK government emphasized on the status of Oxfam India under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010 during the bilateral dialogue held on Feb. 10 2022, Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs, told Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
