India-EU Security and Defence Consultations held in Brussels

As a key pillar of bilateral strategic ties, both nations committed to expand the India-EU defence and security cooperation. The next round of consultations will take place in Delhi at a mutually agreeable time.

The first-ever India-EU Security and Defence Consultations were held on June 10 in Brussels, where both sides agreed to " increase India-EU defence and security cooperation as an important pillar of the bilateral strategic relations," according to a press release from the Indian Embassy in Brussels.

Somnath Ghosh, Joint Secretary (International Cooperation), Ministry of Defence, Sandeep Chakravorty, Joint Secretary (Europe West), Ministry of External Affairs Of India, and Joanneke Balfoort, Director Security and Defence Policy of European Union, co-chaired the consultations.
