India has named Sanjay Kumar Verma as its High Commissioner to Canada

Verma has held positions in Indian embassies in Turkey, China, Vietnam, and Hong Kong, among other places.

Senior diplomat Sanjay Kumar Verma, presently India's Ambassador to Japan was designated as India's new High Commissioner to Canada on Tuesday.

Verma, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer from the 1988 batch who is currently India's ambassador to Japan, is anticipated to start his new position soon, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in an official statement. Verma succeeds Anshuman Gaur, who was acting High Commissioner to Canada.
