India retains its membership in the world's top maritime body, while Pakistan receives no support.

Surprisingly, for the first time in 30 years, Pakistan ran for a seat on the International Maritime Organization's council but received no support.

After securing 133 votes, India is reelected to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) council.

The membership is for category B, which includes 10 countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and the United Arab Emirates. According to the IMO, "Category B" states have the most significant interest in international seaborne trade.
