In the 20-21 fiscal year India’s combined wheat and rice exports rose to a record high of almost 20 million tons.

While the pandemic may have caused significant loss to the country’s economy in 2021, India’s Agro industry witnessed an impressive increase in export volumes which contributed significantly to the GDP of the country.

According to the Economic Survey 2020-21 during COVID-19 when the growth in other sectors plummeted, “The agriculture and allied sectors were the sole bright spot amid the slide in performance of other sectors, clocking a growth rate of 3.4 per cent at constant prices during 2020-21.”
