Twitter said that India had submitted the highest number of legal demands worldwide to remove tweets made by the verified handles of journalists and news outlets on the social media platform. It was amongst the top five countries in terms of issuing content blocking requests to twitter for a variety of users. India had made a total of 3,992 such orders.
According to its latest Transparency Report, the micro blogging platform had received 326 legal demands from across the globe to remove content from 349 accounts of verified journalists and news outlets. This is a spike of 103 percent from the last reporting period.
