Indian American astronaut Sirisha Bandla joins advisory board of Kalpana Chawla project

Bandla has said previously that Kalpana Chawla was her inspiration and someone who greatly influenced her career in aerospace.

Sirisha Bandla, the second Indian woman to fly into space, has been included in the board of advisors of The Kalpana Chawla Project run by the International Space University (ISU), which aims to recognize and empower budding Indian female space enthusiasts.

The Scholarship Project for Innovation, Entrepreneurism, and Space Studies was created in honour of Dr. Kalpana Chawla and provides scholarships to Indian women to attend ISU’s Space Studies Program (SSP). Since the program’s inception in 2017, a total of 16 Indian women scholars have been benefitted through the scholarship.
