Indian American Michigan state Rep. Shri Thanedar announces run for Congress

"My focus is on bringing federal dollars to Detroit to address infrastructure problems, economic inequalities, and to improve quality of life for the residents," Thanedar told the Metro Times.

Shri Thanedar, a member of Michigan's Indian American state legislature, filed the appropriate paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Dec. 21 to run for Congress in the 13th District.

The Democrat legislator will run for the seat presently held by U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, according to metrotimes.com.
