US President Joe Biden on Tuesday announced his plan to nominate Ashish Vazirani, an Indian-American, to the post of Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, Department of Defense.

Vazirani immigrated to the United States with his family when he was three years old and has served on active duty in the United States Navy as a Submarine Officer from 1986 to 1993. He is the son of a Vietnam vet and father to a currently serving marine.
