Indian-American researcher and professor of Epidemiology of the University of Michigan, Bhramar Mukherjee, took to Twitter to express the seriousness of the Omicron situation arising in India.
2. With a lot of people falling sick over a short period of time, even if a small fraction needs medical care, the burden will stress the system.— Bhramar Mukherjee (@BhramarBioStat) December 30, 2021

In a series of tweets, Mukherjee wrote that the Omicron variant 'is staring India in the eye' and that the country is not an exception in the world. At such a time, she asserted that the country should choose 'prudence over panic' in order to avoid another lockdown, which would adversely impact the economy.
