Chaitra Thummala, the Indian American sixth-grader from San Francisco, may have failed to grab the top position at the recently concluded Scripps National Spelling Bee, but that has not dampened the 12-year-old’s cheer and positivity.

"I am very happy and excited because it has always been a dream to be in the top three since I was five," Chaitra, sounding positive and hopeful, told Indian Star in an exclusive video chat.
