Indian American woman to lead NARAL

Mini Timmaraju, a first-generation immigrant from India who grew up and spent the formative years of her career in Texas, “brings a wealth of experience in electoral politics and public service,” says NARAL.

Democratic political activist Mini Timmaraju has been chosen president of National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws (NARAL) Pro-Choice America. The board made the announcement on Diwali and Timmaraju will be joining the organization on Nov. 15.

Timmaraju will be succeeding Ilyse Hogue who held the position for the last eight years. It is also to be noted that she would be the first woman of color to take up this position.
