Indian American researchers Vedika Khemani, assistant professor of physics at Stanford University, and Mansi Kasliwal, astronomy professor at California Institute of Technology have been awarded the New Horizons ‘Oscars of Science’ Prize in Physics from the Breakthrough Prize Foundation.

Physicist Vedika Khemani was recognized for her work on “time crystals” – a new non-equilibrium phase of matter, which repeat across time forever.  Her research offered a theoretical formulation for the first-time crystals, as well as a blueprint for their experimental creation.
