An Indian company Takachar was one of the winners of the first Earthshot Prize on October 17th at a gala ceremony in London. The prize created by Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge and his charity, the Royal Foundation, is awarded to five winners around the world for their efforts to save the planet by tackling global warming and climate change.

The Earthshot Prize was inspired by the “Moonshot” speech of the U.S. President John F. Kennedy in 1962 that motivated and challenged the American people to go to the moon. The prize will be awarded annually to five new eco-friendly ideas and technologies until 2030. Considered the most prestigious of its kind, this ambitious environmental award will present the winners with a grant of one million pounds ($1.4 million).
