India has sent a delegation to Kabul led by the external affairs ministry's point-person on Afghanistan, JP Singh, for discussions with senior Taliban members and to oversee humanitarian relief efforts, the first such visit since the Ashraf Ghani government collapsed last August.

India, like other nations, has not recognized the Taliban establishment in Afghanistan, despite backchannel contacts and meetings with the group in third-party countries such as Qatar.
