Due to the pandemic, the Immigration services have processed fewer applications this year. According to estimates made by a State Department official around 1,00,000 green cards will be pending for approval by the end of Sept., which will result in them being ‘wasted’.

In Oct. 2020, the beginning of the fiscal year, the U.S. immigration services added 120,000 additional green cards to the 140,000 issued every year. However, with only a month left the hopes of the immigrants are hanging by a thread.
