Indian-Origin Professor to be first woman president of Penn State University

Professor Neeli Bendapudi will also be the first person of color to be appointed President of Pennsylvania State University.

Indian-origin Professor Neeli Bendapudi has made history by being appointed as the next President of Pennsylvania State University — a prestigious public university in the United States. When she succeeds President Eric J Barron in spring semester of 2022, she will be the first woman and the first person of color to become the President of the university.

According to a statement on the university’s website, Professor Bendapudi was unanimously elected for the position by the university’s board of trustees on Dec. 9th. Currently, she serves as the president and professor of marketing at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.
