Indian-origin Suella Braverman runs as a candidate for UK PM position

Other colleagues of Indian ethnicity, including recently resigned Cabinet minister Rishi Sunak and Home Secretary Priti Patel, are also being considered as potential candidates.

Indian- origin Suella Braverman is one of the first Conservative members of Parliament to formally announce her candidacy for party leader after Boris Johnson delivered his resignation speech. The 42-year-old of Goan descent has served as the Attorney General in the UK Cabinet.

She has also served as a Member of Parliament (MP) as the Fareham representative since 2015. She led the European Research Group from June 2017 to January 2018 and was given the title QC (Queen's Counsel) after being named Attorney General for England and Wales and Advocate General for Northern Ireland in February 2020, despite not having any necessary prior experience.
