Indian origin Zaneta Mascarenhas creates history in Australia

According to reports, Mascarenhas’s grandparents were born in Goa, which was a Portuguese colony at that time.

Zaneta Mascarenhas, who has roots in the Indian state of Goa, has created history by winning the parliament seat of Swan, Western Australia, to become the first Goan origin person elected into Australia’s lower house.

With her win, she also became the first woman to hold the seat of Swan in its 101-year history and the only Indian-origin member in the newly elected Albanese government.
