Indian states invite Tesla's CEO to set up units for its electric cars
Their invitation came after Tesla CEO Elon Musk expressed his concern with India's high import tariffs on Twitter. He has been periodically tweeting about lowering import tariffs so that his company's high-performance electric cars can start selling in India.
Elon Musk has received a slew of eye-catching offers from a couple of Indian state governments in response to a tweet implying difficulties in obtaining clearance in India for Tesla electric vehicles.
Following Musk's tweet, at least four senior ministers from Maharashtra, West Bengal, Telangana, and Punjab have extended invitations to Musk to set up the Tesla manufacturing plant in their respective states.
