Australia had previously relaxed travel restrictions and opened the door to international travel. Australia has also approved the Covishield vaccine for admission into the country.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a virtual meeting with his Australian counterpart Alan Tudge to discuss the issue of 17,000 Indian students who wish to study in Australia.

During the discussion, Pradhan brought up the problem of over 17,000 Indian students who wish to return to Australia for education. The return of all of these students is scheduled to begin soon. During the meeting, the two Ministers emphasized their countries' commitment to assisting students destined for Australia at every stage.
